Got a question about KJ Millard Ltd and the services we offer? We hope we can answer it for you in our frequently asked questions. If we can't, get in touch with us and we will answer it for you in person.
Q.

What size skip do I need?

A.Please see our size guide or alternatively please feel free to contact us and discuss your requirements with our staff on 01608 641361. Skips must be level filled, NO greedy boards and NO fires.

Q.

What CAN'T I put in my skip?

A.We cannot accept paint, any polluting or hazardous substances such as oil, batteries, fire extinguishers or gas bottles. Paint tins must be empty. Asbestos, tyres, glass, fridges, freezers and plasterboard can be taken only with prior arrangement with our office. Windows are priced on weight so must be kept separate and not put in skips without our office staff knowing. Please call our office for more information regarding this. All unacceptable waste will be unloaded from the skip on collection, returned to the customer or charged for safe disposal. Plasterboard must be kept separate from general waste. A sorting charge may be applied if it is not.

Q.

My skip is NOT on private property, where can I place it?

A.If your skip cannot be placed on your own property and has to be placed on the highway, verge or footpath then a Road Permit will need to be applied for. We will arrange this with the relevant Highways Authority. At least 5 working days is required for this to be processed for Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire and at least 12 working days for Gloucestershire. Lights and cones are included. The road permit lasts one month. If it needs to be renewed, the same notice period is required.

Q.

What happens if I can’t get a licence?

A.For times when skips cannot be placed on the highway or the rubbish is ready to load, a wait and load could be the perfect solution. The skip is placed by your property and our driver stays with the skip. The customer then has 30 minutes to load the skip. After this time or when the skip is full it is taken away. No hassle, no clogging up driveways, just wait and load.

Q.

How long can I keep the skip for?

A.Most skips can be on site for up to 3 weeks, however with prior arrangement with our office staff skips can be on site for a negotiated period of time. The maximum hire period for account customers is 3 months.

Q.

How can I pay for my skip?

A.We accept all major cards apart from American Express. Payment must be taken over the phone before delivery of your skip. Accounts can be opened after a month of trading. We also accept BACS transfers.

Q.

How much notice do I need to give?

A.We usually require 48 hours notice to deliver, exchange or collect your skip. Through prior arrangement with our office staff, we can offer an out of hour’s service or a turnaround service for excavation works.

Q.

How can I dispose of Asbestos?

A.KJ Millard Ltd are fully licensed to organise the safe disposal of all asbestos types, prior notice is required. **Any asbestos found in skips that we have not had prior notice for will be isolated, the customer contacted and offending items either returned to the customer or charged for safe disposal.** We can arrange asbestos testing if required. A.We have two smaller 12 ton skip lorries, perfect for smaller driveways. To be sure we can deliver, it’s great if you have the dimensions of any gateways, low branches or archways when ordering skips.

Can you lift a skip over a fence?

A.Skips can be lifted over fences and walls that are no more than 3 feet high. We take no responsibility for any damage if we are asked to do this.
