Everyone is told to do their bit for the environment by recycling, some people do their parts. Whilst others see no benefit in doing so. Here are 25 facts about the impact of recycling and the effects of not doing so:

  1. Recycling one tonne of paper helps save 682.5 gallons of oil, 7,000 gallons of water and 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space. All resources and space we need to maintain our current way of life.
  2. Recycling one tonne of paper saves 17 trees.
  3. For toilet paper alone, 27,000 trees are felled each day. (Tree felling is the process of downing individual trees.)
  4. Just over 95% of the worlds data and information is stored on paper. The vast majority of which is never looked at again.
  5. Recycling just one plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light up a 60w light bulb for up to 6 hours.
  6. The UK throws away approximately 15 million plastic bottles a day. Each plastic bottle with take around 500 years to decompose.
  7. Thousands of marine creatures die by mistakenly swallowing plastic bags that resemble jelly fish.
